OFFA, Fantasia, and Sail-In Cinema

(Via PRNewswire) Sail-In Cinema is back, and don’t worry, you don’t even need a boat. On August 18th through 20th, “the world’s first two-sided floating movie experience of its size” will appear on a barge in Lake Ontario, thanks to PortsToronto and partners. TO dwellers can watch from the water or from Sugar Beach, and it’s free. This year’s theme is Books to Big Screen, with the three films to be chosen by the public starting next month.

(Via Wireservice.ca) The Willson Oakville Film Festival, June 24-26 in Oakville, ON, has announced its lineup. A Legacy of Whining, which we covered earlier this year, makes its Ontario premiere at the Festival. So does the psychological thriller Lure, from Jesse Harley of Nova Scotia.  Award-winning Quebec director Philippe LeSage will be there for Q&A after the screening of his film The Demons.  For more info and tickets, visit the OFFA site.

(Via Wireservice.ca) Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival will open on July 14th with King Dave, from Daniel Grou (Podz). As Dave hunts down the stranger who groped his girlfriend, the story is told in one sequence shot.
