New App, New NFB Guy, and Where to See Free Outdoor Films

(Via CNW)  A new app that brings you continuously updated information about a variety of independent emulsion filmmaking resources is now available for download from Independent Filmmakers Co-operative of Ottawa Inc. (IFCO). It’s called Filmmaker EH! and you can get it here for your  iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry.

“There’s no season for movies as there is with sports or live theatre. They are independent of weather,” says Chris Knight in the National Post series Haters’ Guide to Summer — so there’s no reason to forget about them in summer, especially when you can compromise by seeing movies outdoors, usually free. He follows up with listings of outdoor films across the country.

The NFB has created a new role: Director General, Creation and Innovation,  whose job “will be to ensure that the NFB’s creative leadership remains a national and international reference” according to a media release they issued today. André Picard, the first to take up the new job, has over 35 years’ experience in the field, including directing the NFB’s French Program and working on Just For Laughs.
