Let Go Wins Awards, DGC Gives Awards, and More

Let Go, Isabel Dréan‘s short film about family and loss (our review here), has been honoured with three awards by the Los Angeles New Wave International Film Festival: Best Short Film, Best Directing (Isabel Dréan), and Best Cinematography (Philippe Toupin). It premiered at Fantasia in Montreal and went on to the Lady Filmmakers Film Festival in the U.S.

(Via PRNewswire) The Directors Guild of Canada has also been recognizing excellence with awards: On Saturday night it honoured 19 of its members, including David Cronenberg, who received the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Mommy took home Best Feature Film and Best Television Series — Drama was shared by Orphan Black and  By Means Which Have Never Yet Been Tried. For the full list, see here.

MFM says there are “some huge scenes coming up that require a LOT of extras” for St. Nickel, shooting again in Sudbury. They need all types, and it could go on for days — also ” it will be a lot of fun to be a part of!” Details are here.
