Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival has announced six more films from its lineup — all connected with Northern Ontario and four of them also set to screen at TIFF. MFM, source of info about filmmaking in the North, reports the films are Remember, Born to Be Blue, Sleeping Giant, Fire Song, The Man in the Shadows, and Unearthing. The Festival runs September 19th through 26th.
Lots of announcements are coming out of TIFF today: The 2015 TIFF Kids Programme will showcase family-friendly films from Europe and Asia, plus the remastered and expanded Brad Bird classic The Iron Giant. Festival Street will fill King Street West with live music, food trucks, and cinema-inspired installations. The Next Wave Committee has carefully chosen 10 films with special appeal for youth. In Conversation With . . . will let audiences hear from Julianne Moore, Sarah Silverman, Salma Hayek, and Matthew Weiner.
The Vancouver Sun has a clip from the set of Star Trek Beyond; as Scott Brown says, “it’s not the most exciting piece of movie magic we’ve ever seen,” but it does give the first glimpse of the new alien character played by Sofia Boutella.
