VIYFF and Run N Gun – 9 Then 11, Respectively

Last year, Run N Gun celebrated it’s 10th year of being a thing. This year, VIYFF is just 1 year away of turning 10, also the one-time guest and running gag Phoenix turns 10 herself. The only reason I bring her up is because even though she has no availability in attending once more as a contributor due to her schooling and activity clubs, is because she’s an interesting subject to observe in my daily life. Now that that’s out of the way, it’s time to get to this announcement of these two festivals.

Vancouver International Youth Film Festival – Better known as VIYFF, this runs in the later days of this month from June 25 to 27. Aside from international short films showcasing this year at Infocus Film School, there will be a masterclass for writing screenplays, and a workshop for doing sound design. Short film showcases will have such subjects including documentary, animation, thriller, experimental, and mulitlingual. A 72 hour filmmaking workshop will be happening at the same time where youth will be able to learn Story creating and writing followed by an on-site film day, concluded with a 1 day editing and pre-screening session. To top it all off, there’s going to be a big closing gala at the Evergreen Cultural Centre on the 27th. Come find me there and watch a load of films there. Now on to Run N Gun

RNG 2026 – Strategically, the Rio Screenings for a plethora of these films is happening June 21st to 24th, right before VIYFF. The Main Event Gala however will be at the Orpheum on July 4 at 2PM. There is sure to be so much going on. Once again, I have partaken in a RNG film which will be screening at the Nightmare Fuel segment happening on the 24th (Phoenix’s birthday, that’s crazy!). As for the Top 40 on the 4th of July, we won’t just get films, we’ll get a great mixer in between, then an after party at Slate Event Space and Par-Tee Putt Vancouver.

Check out these 2 fun events when you can, there’s sure to be something interesting.
