WFF, OIAF, Kelowna FTW, NS Not So Much

One winner in the Canadian Culinary Championships was Kelowna’s Render Digital Media. The production company applied successfully to Telus to help make the competition — held in the BC city over three days each year — into a TV series, reports Castanet’s Carmen Weld. Episode 1, The Wine Pairing Challenge, will be available on Telus Optik and YouTube.

Ottawa International Animation Festival will showcase NFB’s new animations as stated in a media release. Featured will be four new works from NFB’s 10th Hothouse program including My Heart Attack, Carface, If I was God, and Isolation Drills. A few others will be included as well.

Whister Film Festival countdown begins with a fundraiser, according to Craig Takeuchi’s report in The Georgia Straight. The Celebrate WFF event featured Shauna Hardy Mishaw, a cofounder, as she gave honour to two film industry leaders of WFF, Shawn Williamson and Neal Clearance.

Nova Scotia Film Industry throwing in the towel. Trying as hard as they could, the film industry in Halifax has tried to persuade the government not todo away with the key film tax credit, Michael MacDonald says in The Canadian Press. Business Minister Mark Furey says he wants the industry to push forward, but tax credit isn’t returning.
