(via CBC.ca) Regina made film to be shown at Slamdance this year. 8mm film Red is Dead by Dianne Ouellette features her mother dealing with the struggles of lung cancer while showing footage of animals as well. Also includes a soundtrack which was inserted a long time later as it was finished when Ouellette’s mother died. Originally part of the Super 8 Film Festival in Regina three years ago, it is now featured in the 15 finalists for Slamdance.

The list includes documentaries and just recently a program for student shorts has been introduced. (via bellmedia.ca) GREASE: LIVE debuts on CTV January 31. Brought together by CTV and CraveTV, a new series called GREASE: LIVE will debut on CTV slightly before CraveTV’s launch on February 19. The TV adaptation pays tribute to the feature film made in 1978 and features a young cast which looks over the movie’s finest moments and reintroduces the love story. Featuring all sorts of guest stars, who will be performing original songs as well as covers of classic songs from GREASE.
