She Has a Name, Lost Ones, and More

Mark Weber of the Red Deer Express writes that a local author’s story is being turned into a movie. Andrew Kooman, author of She Has a Name, is happy that his play about human trafficking is becoming a full length feature. Recently, the film crew has finished shooting in Thailand over the course of 16 days. The story takes place in Thailand, based on an incident when a storage container got abandoned after it ran out of gas and over 50 people got killed. A man named Jason intends to start a case against a girl-trafficking brothel in Thailand and tries to get support from a prostitute known as Number 18 and convince her to stand up for justice, even if it means death. Kooman has stated it’s more than just a Canadian crew as this is an international problem that is currently plaguing the world.

French Canadian Actress and Writer Eliane Gagnon has recently announced the pleasure of being selected for an international monthly online film festival based in LA. Following the story of a cynical man and a love-hungry woman who wonder if they will ever find “the one” —  if such exists.

(via Marketwired) Rainmaker Entertainment and Shaftesbury studios plan to terminate Transaction. Originally Rainmaker Entertainment was going to obtain all the shares of Shaftesbury in a share purchase agreement. Reasons for terminating the transaction include the company’s unit offering and closing conditions not quite being met.

(via CBC) Young actor from Saskatchewan attending premiere of The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio. Isaiah Tootoosis, who is the seven-year-old grandson of Gordon Tootoosis will be flying out from Saskatoon to Los Angeles to see his film debut playing as the son of Hugh Glass (Leonardo Di Caprio).
