NSI’s Features First, VIFF Industry Exchange, Inspiration, Deal With It (Hep C)

The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is now taking applications for its upcoming course, Features First. Writer/producer teams working on their first or second feature film — which should be one with “strong commercial appeal” — can apply for training, a cash award to develop the project, and a trip to TIFF to support it. As NSI says in its media release, the course gets results.

(Via WireService.ca) VIFF Industry Exchange, part of VIFF’s Industry Conference which takes place every year during the Vancouver International Film Festival, will focus on the rapid shift in the development and buying of online content. The BC Producers’ Branch of the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) is partnering with VIFF for the event, which is set for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Rogers Industry Centre.

Coming up later — we take a look at the upcoming Canadian psychological thriller Inspiration, from Skeleton Key Films. Don’t miss the trailer.

(Via Marketwired) Toronto-based Bang Albino Films is making its documentary Deal with it: Untold Stories of Hepatitis C in Canada available on iTunes. Since hep C shows no symptoms until it’s too late, it’s important to know if you’re at risk and to get tested.
