Medical Move, Snowtime Screen Award, Big Brother, and Race Roots

(via CBC.ca) Hard Rock Medical is taking their production from Sudbury and moving out to North Bay.The Canadian Drama series that was filmed at Sudbury’s College Boreal will have to be filmed elsewhere for practical reasons: Courses at the college are currently in session.

Australian News has mentioned that Quebec’s film Snowtime has achieved a Golden Screen award for feature film. Remade from 1980s film, The Dog Who Stopped the War, Snowtime is a quirky animated film that features two teams of kids getting into the snowball fight of the century. Contenders included Master Chef and Big Brother.

Speaking of Big Brother, the series Big Brother Canada is returning for a fourth season, as announced by Shaw Media. Starting March 2 and airing on Wednesday nights at 9 pm, with many more interesting things to come. Having been nominated for its sixth Canadian Screen Award, the series will consist of more interesting contestants competing for prizes of large amounts of money. Other sub-series of Big Brother Canada will include Big Brother Canada After Dark and Big Brother Canada Side Show, both showing even more interesting footage for people who want more.

(via CBC.ca) Barbara Chirinos celebrates Black History month watching Race, Roots, and Relocation: Delving into B.C.’s Black History. Chirinos found it rather disturbing to see film festivals didn’t include anything regarding black history, so she created her own series within VIFF. For its fifth year, the black film festival asks black people where they originated from, unveils African settler history hidden in Wellington, BC,  and revolves around six black Canadian Culture Makers.
