AFC, Where is Home? Q & A, and Sarah Abbott at Café Ex

(Via PRNewswire) The Actors’ Fund of Canada will now be known simply as The AFC, announces Fiona Reid, President of its Board of Directors. With the change, the group hopes to encourage support and raise awareness of its mandate — to provide emergency financial assistance to all who work professionally in the arts and entertainment industry. As Executive Director David Hope says, “Even the most established artists and technicians can find themselves in a precarious financial position.” Read about The AFC’s work here.

(Via Wireservice.ca) The independent documentary Where is Home? will be shown in Lethbridge on February 10th at the Movie Mill. The film focuses on homelessness and other issues facing Lethbridge and other places across the country. The producer, Dan Berdusco, will be on hand for Q & A. See the trailer for the film here.

(Via Wireservice.ca) Filmmaker and artist Sarah Abbott is the next to appear in the visiting artist series Café Ex. She’ll present three of her works at Club SAW in Ottawa on February 4th: In the Minds of All Beings: Tsogyal Latso of Tibet, This Time Last Winter, and Out In The Cold. Café Ex is presented by the Canadian Film Institute, and you can read more about Sarah Abbott here.
