News for the Shortest Day

(Via CNW) Ten Canadian films have been selected by the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF), which will take place in the California desert city from New Year’s Day through January 11th. Telefilm Canada works together with the Festival to support the Canadian presence there. For the full list of films and other details, see here.

(Via CNW) The Amazing Race Canada was the most-watched regularly scheduled TV show in the country this year — and it’s even made here! This and other facts (like Canadians’ continuing love for watching sports and other competitions, plus the irresistible fascination of a Justin Bieber roast) were released by Numeris today.

Work is already underway on the second annual South Western International Film Festival (SWIFF), set for November 2016 in Sarnia, Ontario, executive director Ravi Srinivasan tells Paul Morden of The Sarnia Observer. The first night of this year’s festival almost sold out, so it looks as if this Sarnia-Lambton festival has great potential.
