WSOP Circuit Brings Poker Back to Africa: Check the Schedule

Great poker has never had great difficulty in taking root across countries, especially in recent times. Sometimes, it arrives in places, where gaming is certainly not the main activity or not the most popular. This year, Africa will dive into a new gambling reality once again. In particular, the warmest continent will host the WSOP Circuit, which is considered one of the most appreciated gambling events of the year.

The seasonal circuit of the World Series of Poker will also make a stop in Africa. The new venue for the event that stakes the traditional WSOP rings will be the Casino Plaza Hotel in Dakar. The capital of Senegal will therefore be the first African city to host a major poker event after 10 years of silence. Those who wish once to join the legendary players should work hard and come up with a good strategy. For example, you can start with local tournaments. The best online casino of 2022 is considered the Emojino casino Canada that organizes various tournaments for beginners.

Back to Africa: The WSOP Circuit Schedule

More than a decade ago, in 2010, Africa hosted not only The World Football Cup but also the most famous poker tournament. More precisely, the WSOP Circuit was held in South Africa which, despite the exotic location, attracted many great players. For example, Michael Mizrachi, who won his first $100,000 Main Event.

Twelve years later, the great poker will return to Dakar. Nine tournaments will be played within May, 13-22, at the Casino Plaza Hotel, and many interesting events will take place there. The stage will not include events with high limits due to the specifics of the region. The average instalment will be less than $500. It starts with the $500 buy-in Opener tournament and finishes with the $3,400 buy-in Super High Roller. There will also be a special event for a charity called Little One for One Drop. So, here is the official schedule:

  • May 13: No Limit Hold’em Opener – $500;
  • May 16: No Limit Hold’em Turbo – $425;
  • May 17: No Limit Hold’em Deepstack – $340;
  • May 18: No Limit Hold’em High Roller – $2,550;
  • May 19: No Limit Hold’em Special Main Event – $1,700;
  • May 20: No Limit Hold’em Freezeout – $340;
  • May 21: Little One for One Drop – $1,260;
  • May 21: Omaha – $1,700;
  • May 22: No Limit Hold’em Super High Roller – $3,400.

What Is the Little One for One Drop?

This series will include the iconic $1,260 Little One for One Drop tournament. The WSOP and the charity One Drop Foundation have been linked for 10 years. In 2012, its founder, billionaire and poker player Guy Laliberte, created the Big One for One Drop event. The idea of the previous event was that 3.5% of the prize fund of the tournament helped finance clean water projects in Africa. Now it has been replaced by the Little One for One Drop tournament.

In fact, this is an official gold bracelet event with a $1,111 buy-in. From each contribution, $111 is donated to the charitable organization. Every year, the event collects about half a million dollars, which are then given to charity. This is also the largest charitable poker tournament ever held.

WSOP Circuit Returns to Cannes

Live poker is getting more and more popular, and the stages of the World Series of Poker Circuit are also returning to France. Casino Barrière Le Croisette Cannes has announced 50 tables on April,14-26. Up to 11 Rings will be played at the Texapoker festival, and 1 Ring will be played at PMU Poker.

The event will take place in the legendary Palais des Festivals and Congresses in Cannes, and will last for almost two weeks with buy-in starting from €250 and reaching €2,500. Finally, the long-awaited €1,500 buy-in Main Event and the €2,500 buy-in High Roller Event should bring all players from the French circuit together. The playing conditions, the attractiveness of the Ring WSOP Circuit, and the prestige of the seaside resort are likely to attract some foreign pros and tourists as well. Another additional element is the proximity to Monte Carlo.
