Building a career in the film industry is a tough but worthwhile job. Just last week, I made an article covering Thommy Morais where he did an interview. Now I want to try something new out, highlighting someone in the industry and sharing their story. I haven’t found a suitable title for such an article series as of yet, but if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Anyways, this article is about Hannah Carman, an Australian-British Actor and producer who happens to be based in Vancouver. Having both experience on and off camera is already pretty impressive. It all started when Hannah moved from Sydney’s North Shore to Los Angeles when she was only 18. From there she planned to take up acting, but also discovered an interest on the other side of the camera, making films. Pretty good start, if I must say so myself. Shortly afterward, she moved to Vancouver and over the past couple years has developed her work even further. As of recently, she co-produced a film called Bare. She came in after reading the script by Claire Johnstone. Hannah enjoyed reading it, finding the story to be so funny and daring. While working as a producer, Hannah also took charge of casting and talent outreach, worked in location scouting, and on-set production logistics. Bare ended up screening on Telefilm Canada’s Not Short on Talent program in Cannes.
As for acting work, Hannah took a lead in The Space Between Stars. Taking place on a roof late at night, I can imagine what it was like so high up, but Hannah enjoyed the experience despite the freezing cold temperature up there. In less than 10 minutes, a suicide jumper and a hitman are on the same roof. Someone is going to die, but who?
Well, it’s pretty impressive what Hannah has started out on in Canada. She has made some good connections within 2 years and is making more of a name for herself. I can’t wait to see what Hannah makes in the future.
