(Via PRNewswire) effects MTL (and yes, that is a lower case “e”), the international business convention for the VFX and animation industry, will welcome a special keynote speaker in Montreal in June: Tim Belsher, CG Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) Vancouver. Tim discusses ILM’s work on the creation of Ultron, Marvel’s latest nemesis, the development of The Hulk and the massive virtual environments created for the film.
That’s only the beginning. As part of the second annual Digital Spring/Printemps Numérique, this very first ever edition of effects MTL will offer sessions presented by world-renowned experts on recent productions like Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones, Hotel Transylvania 2, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Captain America 2 and more.
Other events at the convention include:
- a free job fair for recruitment and to spark new collaborations
- soundtrack and green screen contests (now open, but only till June 1st, so hurry)
- the Business Lounge for decision-makers and buyers from around the globe
- the Exhibition Zone, welcoming major local and international players
Marine Lelièvre, Event Director, says, “Everyone will have access to affordable conference passes to participate in this great celebration.” (Passes cost from $40 for one session to $545 for VIP access.)
effects MTL is an initiative of Connection Events, experts in organizing international business conferences geared towards the video gaming, visual effects and animation industries. It will be taking place June 10th and 11th at the Centre Mont-Royal. For more information, check out its official site (but be prepared for a blast of music).
