Celebrating National Canadian Film Day (With Video)

Tomorrow, April 20th, 2016, is National Canadian Film Day — and if you want to celebrate it, the most difficult part will probably be narrowing down your choices and figuring out which Canadian film(s) you’d like to see.

Fortunately, NCFD has created a quiz to help you decide which film would be perfect for you — you can take it here on the official site and share your results on social media.

Next — check out the screenings all over the country on this interactive map to find one near you. Many are free of charge.

Can’t get out? Not to worry, you can watch from home. Here’s what broadcasters are showing in honour of the day. And here’s a guide to what you can watch online, free (or very cheap). Organizations from the CBC to Retrontario are streaming works from Take This Waltz to Porky’s.

One highlight of the online offerings is this nationwide webcast of Bon Cop, Bad Cop, including a live Q&A session with Colm Feore and Patrick Huard.

So — tomorrow, take a couple of hours to see and appreciate what your country has done for the art of cinema.
