Bell Media and its — sub-media? have been getting busy, according to a couple of press releases today.
First, Much Digital Studios, which was announced back in April, is up and running as of now. This goes hand in hand with the re-vamping and re-launch of Much.ca. Much Digital Studios is Much’s “online network of YouTube creators and digital influencers.” So far it’s got 13 established and emerging Canadian YouTube creators, including comedian Jus Reign (500,000 subscribers), beauty vlogger Melissa Merk (300,000 subscribers), and comedic troupe 4YallEntertainment (250,000 subscribers). They should have influence, all right. You’ll find Much Digital Studios’ YouTube channel here.
CTV is “exclusive Canadian network on the ground” at Disneyland’s 60th anniversary. Its daily talk series The Social is planning two on-location shows airing Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m. ET (2 p.m. AT) on CTV and CTV GO. The four co-hosts and a crew of celebrity guests will “experience everything the park has to offer.”
Finally, and unfortunately, scam artists have been busy lately too. The CRTC issued a release today “warning Canadians about illegal calls from individuals who claim that they are calling on behalf of the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) operator.”
It explains: “The originators of these calls are falsely displaying (spoofing) the National DNCL toll-free phone number. These individuals are making claims that the call recipient’s telephone number is about to expire from the National DNCL and that the number must re-registered over the phone.”
The DNCL doesn’t operate that way. Whatever these people are up to, don’t tell them anything about yourself, and take a minute to make a complaint.
