In The Spotlight: Azriel Dalman

Anyone remember the Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians? I only watched a small amount of it because interestingly enough, I did a BG gig in the one episode where people were in the long unmoving line to Hell. But I don’t want to start making this sound like one of Shaun’s articles, so let’s focus on our talent for today. Azriel is coming back into the series as Young Percy Jackson in all of the flashbacks throughout the series. He already did so in the first season figuring out his life as a Demigod, and now we get to see what the younger Percy learns in Season 2.

Now for those unfamiliar with the series, it was based off a bestselling book series by Rick Riordan about a 12-year old Demigod who gets accused of stealing the Thunderbolt of Zeus, so Percy rushes off to find the missing thunderbolt and return it so order can be restored to Olympus. That explains why my scene took place at the entrance of hell, more or less.

Dalman himself has been a professional actor since he was 6, and I have to say he really has the knack for this role and many more. According to the fandom of PJ&tO, they think the young fellow is perfectly cast, and he is what makes the series what it is. Dalman really captures the character’s spirit, but he’s already a professional having over 40 credits currently. He’s done Holiday themed Hallmark movies, a role in Joe Pickett Season 2,  and even Sonny Child in Moonfall. Plus, he has dual Canadian/US citizenship. The young Dalman is exceptionally well and I can’t wait to see what roles he does in a decade or two. I hope Azriel sticks to acting because he has the gift and he’s using it well.
