Exclusive – Have You Seen The Twins? Part I

exclusiveJacqueline and Joyce Robbins were born to act, times two. They are identical twins that have had the acting bug for as long as they could muster words. As twin actresses they have a very unique perspective on the entertainment industry. I bumped into Jacqueline at The Studio on Granville St. I couldn’t help but request an interview with her and her sister Joyce.

She accepted my request. Upon arrival, the two were incredibly welcoming and engaging from the get-go. They began to share a fascinating account of a sister act like no other.

Born in Rochester, Minnesota, then raised in Calgary, Alberta, they were putting on plays with the neighborhood kids when they were just kids themselves. They continued acting throughout their lives. Their first introduction to professional film were as background actors in Buffalo Bill And The Indians directed by Robert Altman in 1976.

Joyce gained her equity ticket through acting in a play with Stage West. Jacqueline received hers through performing with Lunch Box Theatre. They’ve come a long ways since that time including both sisters playing a part in a Nicholas Cage film, The Wicker Man.

Considering Vancouver’s healthy film industry, they packed their bags and took their talents here nine years ago. I asked how the audition process worked between them. “We audition separately and again as twins. It presents a vision to the director not otherwise imagined.”

Intelligent, articulate, creative, professional, respectful describe these actresses.
