Up in the Air (With NJ Taylor Pop Army Video)

(Via PRNewswire) Entries are being accepted for the 10th annual Air Canada enRoute Film Festival from now till May 31. The airline is looking for the best in short films by emerging Canadian filmmakers (students and recent grads), who have a chance at a cash prize and a chance to travel to the Berlin International Film Festival to have their film screened at the European Film Market. Full details are here.

Vancouver’s DOXA Documentary Film Festival has announced it’s opening this year with Aim For The Roses – a “musical docudrama” about stuntman Ken Carter, who in 1976 undertook to “jump a mile over the St. Lawrence Seaway in a rocket-powered Lincoln Continental”, writes The Globe and Mail’s Marsha Lederman. The Festival opens on May 5th.

(Via Wireservice.ca) Montreal’s NJ Taylor always thought the term pop army  “sounded really cool and wanted to write a song called that.” Now she has — it’s  on her self-titled debut EP, which will be out this month, but meanwhile the single has its own video directed by NOMAD. It draws from elements of Lady Gaga, Madonna and MJ in terms of dance and costumes and concept, NJ says. (Is it just me, or does “army” sound more like “armée” in the chorus?)
