New Stuff for Summer

TIFF has a full summer planned for movie lovers in TO, including retrospectives on major filmmakers like Hitchcock and Truffaut, screenings of cult classics, the first summer edition of the TIFF Next Wave 24-Hour Film Challenge, and virtual reality installations at the Lightbox. Ticket sales start the 25th for the general public, but members can book now.

(Via CNW) This just in — Lionsgate has named Ted Bookstaver to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Alternative Programming Sales. He’ll be in charge of their unscripted content, as it’s called, and brings over 20 years’ experience in the industry.

(Via PRNewswire)  Montreal’s MAtv has some new shows lined up from citizen-producers, two of them in English: Black Wealth Matters and The Checklist. Filmmaker Henri Pardo hosts Black Wealth Matters, a doc series on the push by Montreal’s black communities to build a better, wealthier future. The Checklist, created and hosted by Kim Sullivan, leads viewers through all the fascinating things to do in Montreal that should be on their bucket lists. Both premier on Thursday the 26th, with Black Wealth Matters starting at 9:00 followed by The Checklist.

The things that get caught on video . . . Looks like this one will hold up debate on C-14 for who knows how long, says CTV.
