Meet and Greet in North Bay, Money for FIFA

MFM has a couple of announcements today: Two of their reps will be in North Bay tonight for a meet and greet with “any and all individuals who are currently working in Film & TV or are interested in working in Film & TV.”  MFM (Music and Film in Motion, a division of the non-profit Cultural Industries Ontario North [CION]) can help Northern Ontario creators get their film and TV projects off the ground. The even takes place at the Raven and Republic at 8:00; more details on Facebook. Also, plans are underway for the fifth annual (Nickel Anniversary!) edition of Toronto Celebrates Sudbury. Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival is taking part in the event, which is set for June 9th.

As of yesterday, Vancouver is standing in for the (fictional) small town of Angel Grove as work has begun on Saban’s Power Rangers, a production of Lionsgate and Saban Brands. As the franchise reboots, can a small team based in Vancouver save the world? Would it be the first time?

(Via Marketwired) The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) is in line for $87,000 in funding from the federal government, the Honorable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced today. The money comes through the Canadian Arts Presentation Fund. The Festival takes place March 10th through 20th in Montreal.
