Oscar Nominations of 2015

We_March_With_Selma_cph.3c35695With the Oscars having recently been announced, I have to personally say I’m quite surprised by some of the nominations. One of the major things that upset me is that Ava DuVernay’s film was nominated for Best Film but the director wasn’t nominated at all. Selma is one of the most amazing films about black history since Django Unchained. Even though it’s not entirely accurate according to history it certainly shows how much the U.S. has improved in the past five decades.
Remarkably, Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel has just as many nominations as Alejandro Gonzaelez Inarritu’s Birdman. Both films are well known for their intense and dramatic visuals.
