(Via PRNewswire) 50° North Productions, a Canadian television and film studio with full in-house production capability, opens today in Vancouver. It’s a project of the McLean Group’s Vancouver Film Studios (“VFS”) and EveryWhere Studios of Sherman Oaks, California. A media release outlines the advantages of the arrangement: “This partnership creates a unique opportunity to unify the strengths of the Canadian and US entertainment industries. The structure of 50° North will allow the company to produce filmed content in Canada using the financial and operational advantages of a single, Canadian-based company.”
From modest origins as a new company with a series of warehouses, VFS has built its own solid record of more than 100 feature films, television series, and commercials. It now has 12 purpose-built sound stages and a suite of support services, making it ideal for the new venture.
EveryWhere Studios is known for its award-winning, high quality, family friendly content. Recent productions are Hallmark’s The Bridge (based on the Karen Kingsbury novel) and R.L. Stine’s Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls (because family friendly doesn’t have to mean never scary).
“Vancouver Film Studios can take considerable credit for building Vancouver’s, and Canada’s reputation as a production destination,” says David Calvert-Jones, Chairman, EveryWhere Studios.
