DOXA starts April 30

Keep your calendars open, DOXA is coming up next week, and there’s lots of interesting screeners for this year. Of course, as we all know from past content on this website, DOXA consists of documentaries. Earlier this month, I decided it was time for me to start attending events because I haven’t since… oh, apparently not that long ago. But there was a press event happening and being media, I attended. This year’s DOXA has some great sponsors from 25th Century, great panels, and a program called ParaDOXA, an interesting program where films go beyond your traditional documentary format. These particular screenings also feature a discussion with the director after each one. So far, we have 69 films screening at this year’s DOXA, with 20 of them being short, in case you don’t feel like sitting for too long. Key screenings to watch this year are Bella Sutra, Concrete Turned to Sand, and Time and Water, which are worth checking out. There are plenty of World Premieres to check out too, like Green Valley, The Latest News From “Deseret”, Illustrated Legacies: Graveyard of the Pacific, Namesake, and In Tyee Country.  There are world premieres of short films in the Shorts Programs too such as Au Hasard (Program 5), Tuktuit: Caribou (Program 4), Mirrorpond (Program 5), The Flower and The Field (Program 1), BAEA (Program 1), Living Containers (Program 2), Bubba (Program 3), and Touching Rocks (Program 2). Don’t forget the other interesting programs including the Justice Forum and Rated Y.
