(Via WireService.ca) The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF), which runs November 3rd to November 8th in the Ontario city, has announced its opening and closing films: Son of Saul, a powerful Holocaust drama from Hungary, and Samba, the heartwarming story of a migrant from Mali to France. Festival tickets will be available starting Thursday.
(Via WireService.ca) An all-star group of eight creators from across Canada has been chosen for the 20th annual session of Women In the Director’s Chair (WIDC), which will mentor them through three months of project development and take them to the Whistler Film Festival in December. Among them are Mary Walsh, working on A Christmas Fury, and Marie Clements with a new web series, Crooked Bones.
MFM announces that the film Ice Girls is looking for an art trainee. According to this CP article from last summer, by Bill Brioux via news1130k, Ice Girls is “a Disney-like movie about clashing Canadian figure skaters.” Filming is in Sudbury. Details on applying are here.
