Snicket Casting, Whistler Must-Sees, Crowdfunding Student, Killjoys Return

(Via CNW) There’s an international casting call out for two young actors to star in the upcoming Netflix original series, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. Characters are Violet, a “not-too-mature 14-year-old” (though she is “self-confident, capable and smart beyond her years”) and Klaus, a bookish but charming 10- to 13-year-old boy. Shooting starts early next year in — where else? — Vancouver. Apply for auditions by January 15, 2016; more details here.

(Via WireService.ca) Whistler Film Festival opened last night, and has also released its official  top 10 picks for what not to miss among its “89 films, 10 events plus 30 industry sessions and lots of parties to experience…” We hope to bring you more on that later.

(Via CNW) David Rawlings is determined to study Film Production at the Toronto Film School — and when the school saw how committed the Englishman was, it pledged to match the amount he raised in his crowdfunding campaign. Check out his progress toward his goal — and help if you want — here.

(Via PRNewswire) Production has begun in Toronto on Season 2 of Space’s most-watched original series ever, Kilkilljoysljoys. The story of interplanetary bounty hunters continues “as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad, a distant planetary system on the brink of a bloody class war.”
