Prism Prize, G-G Awards, and Basic Human Needs

(Via Wireservice.ca) The Prism Prize Top 20 and Top Ten best Canadian music videos of 2015 have been announced, with one more round of voting to go before the winner is awarded $10,000 at a ceremony on May 15th. (Via PRNewswire) Filmmaker Philip Hoffman will be among the recipients of the 2016 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts. The awards are given for distinguished career achievement in visual arts, architecture, independent film and video, or audio and new media. The ceremony will take place tomorrow (March 23rd) at Rideau Hall. Read more about Hoffman’s career at his site.

 The feature film Basic Human Needs, produced and filmed entirely in Saskatchewan, will see its theatrical release in Saskatoon and Regina theatres this April. This coming-of-age comedy tells the story of a young Regina couple who suffer from “debilitating lack of ambition” but may just have to grow up in a hurry. It was made as part of the first ever Indiecan10K Canadian Film Challenge. Read more at SMPIA.
