(Via MarketWired) Cineplex is doing pretty well this quarter, with box office revenues of $186.2 million, up $4.8 million from the same time period last year. Food sales at the theatres have done even better, though, with an increase of $10.4 million in revenues from last year . . .

(Via WireService.ca) The government of Saskatchewan is launching a survey to ask what should be done with the province’s $12 million soundstage in Regina — and the NDP already has an answer: Bring back the film tax credit and use it to make films.

Among his many accomplishments in support of the film industry, as a media release says, “In 1997, out of sheer passion for the love of film, Mr. Giustra founded Lionsgate Entertainment named after the iconic Lionsgate Bridge in Vancouver.”
