Another casting call has gone out from Canadore College Digital Cinematography and Applied Filmmaking, according to MFM: Into the Azure needs “All ethnicities and builds ages 19 and up”. This student film has no budget, but it does have “drama, flying scenes, action sequences and motion capture technology.” Details are here.
The Nova Scotia tax credit cut hasn’t hurt Journeyman Film Company, reports The Chronicle-Herald’s Mary Ellen MacIntyre. The small Dartmouth business specializes in ” short films and commercials for branding, marketing, community engagement and training,” and is just hitting its stride, according to owner and executive producer Mathew Welsh.
To the Ends of the Earth, David Lavallée’s upcoming doc on the effects of the oil industry’s ever widening explorations, filmed its Arctic portions with plenty of support from local people, Lisa Gregoire writes at Nunatsiaq Online. The film looks at more than the environmental effects; it argues that extreme energy extraction isn’t even cost effective.
