Free Movies, 150th, and What’s the Deal with Those Bison?

(Via CNW) Air Canada enRoute Film Festival will reveal this year’s winners at a free outdoor public screening at Robson Square (800 Robson Street) in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday, July 20 at 8:00 p.m. On the 26th, the selected films will also play in Halifax (Halifax Central Library at 7:30 p.m.). Liz Trinnear, Etalk reporter and Much host, will host both events. Free public screenings will be held in Montreal and Toronto in November. Following the Toronto screening, prizes will be presented at an invitation-only awards celebration.

(Via Marketwired) And here’s another stop on Fountain Tire’s Open Road Cinema Tour: The University of Regina, Tuesday, July 12,  where a free drive-in movie will be shown at approximately 9:30 (this time of year, you never know when it’ll get quite dark enough).  There are other activities going on for the whole family, starting at 6:30.

Yes, you can buy bison meat at the supermarket, but knocking off the animals to use their carcasses as movie props is something else again. (Via CNW) CBC/Radio-Canada plans to “recruit young diverse Millennials to tell the contemporary story of Canada across all platforms throughout 2017″ in celebration of the country’s 150th next year. They call it What’s Your Story? in English, La Route des 20 in French . . . which tells you a lot about today’s Canada right there, but anyway . . .
