Northumberland Syrian Lifeline is raising funds to help resettle Syrian refugees — and giving the community some background on their culture — with an event they call A Taste of Syria: Films and Food, reports NorthumberlandView.ca. It’s on January 31st at the Cameco Capitol Theatre in Port Hope, costs $20, and of course includes refreshments. The films shown will be the short Growing Home, and the feature-length Not Who We Are.
2016’s looking like a big year for several creative Quebecers, reports CP’s Cassandra Szklarski via CTVNews. Denis Villeneuve, Xavier Dolan and Jean-Marc Vallee, along with Patrick Huard and Philippe Falardeau, are all looking forward to “varied film and TV ventures involving big-name stars.” Dolan, of course, comes to it fresh from Adele’s wildly popular music video Hello.
