New on HGTV Canada: Carver Kings

(Via Shaw Media)   A team of world-class chainsaw mavericks based out of Williams Lake, B.C., are at the heart of Carver Kings, a new reality show premiering in April on HGTV Canada. They’re part of the team at Pioneer Log Homes, the centre of the popular series Timber Kings, which follows the building of upscale log houses for elite clients. The Carver Kings’ job is creating extraordinary, one-of-a-kind carvings for the Timber Kings’ most prestigious clients. That means near impossible deadlines, demanding clientele, last minute changes and work yard egos, we’re told, but it’s all in a day’s work for the expert carvers.

In the first episode, their challenge is to create a modern totem pole for a log home in Colorado under construction by Timber King Peter Arnold. The client wants a 13-foot sculpture featuring the native animals of the  state. And with only five days to create it (don’t ask me why, guess you’ll just have to watch the show), they can’t afford to make even one mistake.

But it’s not all about drama and work under pressure. “Carver Kings will showcase the incredible artistry that can come from the unlikely chainsaw,” says David Paperny, President, Paperny Entertainment, the production company. The carvers are not only talented, they know their subjects — from the number of feathers on a bird’s wing to the exact angle at which a bear’s claw curves.

Carver Kings premieres with two back-to-back episodes on Sunday, April 5th  at 10 PM ET/PT on HGTV Canada.
