CTV has some background (from CP) on  Adam Garnet Jones’ Fire Song, one of the Canadian films playing at TIFF. It explores the strong pull of both the home community and the outside world, especially on someone who feels isolated. More here.

It was a “dream job” for two teenage cousins: “riding golf carts, cliff-jumping, and setting off fireworks.” Nick Serino and Reece Moffett, both 17, starred in Andrew Cividino’s Sleeping Giant, which screened at Cannes and is now at TIFF. Steve Fonyo caught the attention of filmmaker Alan Zweig when his Order of Canada was revoked, says this special to The Globe and Mail by Geoff Pevere, but after spending a year with Fonyo making the documentary Hurt, Zweig came to see that the man who once made a one-legged run coast to coast has an unfailing attitude of “Don’t worry, I’ll find something.”
