Run & Gun at Rio, Portman at TIFF, Product Placement Anywhere

Congratulations to the winners of Run & Gun 2015, the 48-hour film contest held earlier this month in Vancouver. Awards were handed out at the Rio on Saturday night; we’ll have more  on them later from Nick Wangersky, who was there (and, full disclosure, was on one of the teams that competed). Meanwhile, you can see all 16 of the entries here.

Natalie Portman will be the special guest at the first annual  TIFF Soirée, a charity social event that’ll start off the Toronto International Film Festival at TIFF Bell Lightbox on Wednesday, September 9 at 6 p.m. She’ll participate in a look back at her career and an “intimate onstage conversation”. There will also be music and drinks. Of course, this is a big-ticket event, but if you’re interested, tickets are on sale here.

Is your project too small to get product placement? Maybe not anymore. Brandwood Global, Inc., a new Official Industry Sponsor of TIFF, has an app that “breaks the mold of the traditional, exclusive ‘who you know’ model, and allows smaller companies and productions to participate in the product placement industry,” it says in a 24-7PressRelease. It connects creators to brands worldwide — take part in the beta launch, or just find out more, here.
