Premieres, Birth, and More Music

Yoga Hosers, a comedy about “strange occurrences at the Winnipeg convenience store Eh-2-Zed” and the teenage clerks who fight evil with yoga, has its world premiere at Sundance in January, reports Peter Howell of The Toronto Star. If that sounds funny, there’s more: Johnny Depp plays the Quebecois police detective on the case. His daughter Lily-Rose stars as one of the clerks.

Speaking of world premieres, the Whistler Film Festival will see the debut of Uulx – The Scratcher, a short film from Nuxalkmc director Banchi Hanuse, announces The Coast Mountain News. Shot on the Chilcotin Plateau in BC in the dead of winter, this cautionary tale is based on real-life events. Read more at Smayaykila Films.

Birth of the Dragon, the new bio/drama on martial arts legend Bruce Lee, is filming at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum, we hear from one of the extras.
