Premier Finally Premieres, Painted Land to Air, Films Funded

(Via CNW) Plans to broadcast the documentary Premier: The Unscripted Kathleen Wynne came to a halt last spring due to differences between TVO and White Pine Pictures, but the film is finally going to air next weekend. W5, the documentary program hosted by Lloyd Robertson, has picked it up and will air it on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, CTV GO, and CTVNews.ca. Starting on the 16th, you’ll also be able to stream it on CraveTV.

White Pine and TVO are, good to say, not locked in a permanent feud over this; according to a TVO media release, the station will air White Pine’s art doc Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven on Thursday, October 15 at 9pm EST, and again on October 17 at 9 pm and 18 at 11 pm. The film follows a team of three who set out to find the exact places the Group of Seven portrayed in their iconic paintings. Writer/director Phyllis Ellis says, “The visual language was the easy part . . . there was not a bad shot in sight.”

(Via CNW Telbec) Congratulations to the creative teams behind the five English-language films chosen for funding by Telefilm through the Canada Feature Film Fund: Beyond the Pale (Rob Connolly), Birdland (Peter Lynch), Boost (Darren Curtis), The Death and Life of Carl Naardlinger (Katherine Schlemmer) and Lavender (Ed Gass-Donnelly).
