Passion at Rideau Hall, Hyena Road at CIFF, Violent at Oscars?

(Via CNW) We have a little more information on the Rideau Hall Movie Nights coming up later this week, specifically the French-language screening La Passion d’Augustine. Cast members Andrée Lachapelle, Danielle Fichaud and Élizabeth Tremblay-Gagnon will be there to talk about the film at 8:30 PM on the 22nd, followed by screening at 9:40. Just to recap, on the 21st the film is Passchendaele, showing at 9:00 PM, with pre-screening talk by actor and director Paul Gross and producer Niv Fichman. Everything is free, including popcorn, films are subtitled, and the rain date is the 23rd.

Paul Gross will also be at the 2015 Calgary International Film Festival for the premiere of his new war film Hyena Road, which will play for the September 25th gala (one of the Festival’s five) at the Theatre Junction Grand, The Calgary Sun’s Louis Hobson reports. CIFF starts off on September 23rd and goes on for 12 days.

Violent, a Norwegian feature produced by Vancouver production company Amazing Factory, is being considered to represent Canada in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars. Directed by Andrew Huculiak, it won eight Leo Awards back in June — The Vancouver Sun has the full story.
