News Before the Weekend: KFF, Free Workshop, Portrait Screening

Brendan Kergin of infotel.ca writes that the Kamloops Film Festival is honouring its 20th year with 20 feature films. The KFF will be going from March 3 to March 12 and is considered one of the most solid film festivals in Canada. Films being shown include well known movies across Canadian festivals such as Victoria and Haida Gwaii: On the Edge of the World. Aside from features both well known and little known, local filmmakers in Kamloops will be having their short films screened as well to show to their community in the Kamloops Independent Short Shots fest.

(via albertafilm.ca) Reel Diverse is offering a five-day film workshop next month on weekends. Ten aspiring filmmakers in the Alberta area will get a lucky chance to learn basic filmmaking techniques for no cost. Courses will be hosted on March 5, 6, 12, 13, and 19. Movie about a serial monogamist has recently been released, writes Julianna Cummins of playbackonline.ca. Today, Portrait of a Serial Monogamist is going to be screened at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto. During the opening weekend, there will be special events such as Q&A sessions with the directors and actors. Toronto is considered a very important part of the film as much of the cast is made up of Toronto based comedians.
