New Growth and A Goodbye

(Via PRNewswire) Pinewood Toronto Studios is growing —  a new agreement with its landlord the Toronto Port Lands Company will bring the company 1.75 acres of land where it plans to build a new 135,000 square foot film and television support facility. Blake Steels, President of Pinewood Toronto Studios, says, “This expansion builds our capacity to host additional productions simultaneously on our lot. This means more films for Toronto which is good for the whole film industry, the whole city.”

Double Exposure’s Newzapalooza is the newest addition to Accessible Media Inc.’s AMI-audio channel. The comedy show, based on the original Canadian radio comedy, Double Exposure, which was popular in the 1980’s, will be hosted by the original stars, Linda Cullen and Bob Robertson. Another veteran Canadian filmmaker has left us — Colin Low, who worked on over 200 productions at the NFB and had a hand in developing  IMAX 3D film, died Wednesday in Montreal at age 89. CBC News has the story of Low’s long creative life here.
