Festivals, Ultimate Canadian Journey, and Call for Halloween Extras

Halloween comes early for you if you join the cast of Slasher as a background performer — MFM announces they’ll be filming in Sudbury on the 7th. Ages 20 to 40 are needed, and it’s said to be “a really fun Halloween scene.” More details here.

The Ottawa International Film Festival announced its lineup yesterday, as OttawaStart reports. Running October 16th through 18th, OIFF will present “over 50 projects in digital web series, feature length and short narrative films, documentaries, and music videos.” Canadian creations featured will include Jackie Boy  by Ottawa native and director Cody Campanale, and Zachary Quinto in The Future Perfect, directed by Nick Clinton.

University of King’s College student Nader Nadernejad, a former contestant on Canada’s Smartest Person, has a new project in the works: “a three-month summer 2016 film session” when he and friends will document “the ultimate Canadian journey.” They hope to travel the country interviewing the people they come across — Lance Anderson of Peterborough This Week has the story on the project and its KickStarter campaign.

The St. Lawrence International Film Festival is like no other: “four days, two countries, one event,” according to Adam Paul, executive director of the Festival committee. Venues on both sides of the Line are Ottawa (Gatineau), Canton, Brockville and Potsdam, reports Inside Brockville’s Doreen Barnes. The Festival opens on the 22nd.
