Etheria in TO, Majumder on Nunavut, and Canada at Sundance

Etheria Toronto celebrates women in the tv and film industry, writes Debi Moore at Dreadcentral.com. The showcase known as Etheria Film Night is on its way to Toronto, happening February 20, 2016. Etheria Film Night  features many different films and shows made by women. Some TV series being honoured, all with women directors and/or producers, include HannibalOrphan Black, Hemlock Grove, Lost Girl, and Flashpoint More. Among some of the honoured women of the film scene will be Vivian Lin, Kat Threlkeld and Amanda Row. The Chronicle Herald recently released an exclusive interview with Canadian comedian Shaun Majumder. Majumder has been acting and entertaining for over a decade. His work includes This Hour Has 22 minutes, Detroit 1-8-7, and Majumder Manor. Majumder talks about his experiences on TV, his interest in Canada, and even his trip to Nunavut.

(via northernstars.ca) Canadian movies getting talked about the most at Sundance. Matt Johnson’s Operation Avalanche in particular seems to be the most talked about film at the moment. In this movie, Johnson explores the hearts and minds of Americans while bending the facts of whether or not mankind made it to the moon. It is one of four Canadian feature films this year, along with eight short Canadian films, and four works of virtual reality.
