Chef Aleem Syed, owner and operator of the first wheelchair accessible food truck in North America and likely, the world, has big plans. Not only does he look forward to owning a restaurant (as NowToronto’s Aaron Broverman reported recently), we’re also told he’s in the midst of making a documentary. Teaming up with Sky Blue productions, Syed hopes to take the film to Hot Docs and TIFF. The film, which has no title as yet, will explore his life as a chef, his hurdles as a paraplegic man, his relationship with his girlfriend an able bodied individual and navigating through the ups and downs of their relationship and more. Stay tuned for word on the trailer release party later this summer.
The Vancouver Taiwanese Film Festival is branching out this year, Chuck Chiang writes in The Vancouver Sun, “exploring more universal themes than the usual Taiwanese culture,” like the impact of humans on the land, something that’s an issue in BC right now.

The upcoming thriller Regression, starring Emma Watson, is set in 1990s Minnesota but was shot last April through June in Southern Ontario, Global News informs us. Her character accuses her father of a crime he doesn’t remember.
