Casting Call, Canada in a Day, Carle and Carole

Here’s a casting call for a commercial (“Palladino Promise”) in Sudbury — they’re looking for one each male and female of this description: “Positive, bubbly, speaks well and should look like a professional on-camera.” Other than that, it’s wide open as to ethnicity, etc. Details and a link to a similar commercial at MFM.

(Via CNW) Canada in a Day has confirmed that the day in question is September 10th, 2016. People all across the country are invited to make and submit video clips of their day — as much or as little as they want. Out of the submissions, director Trish Dolman and her team will craft a two-hour film that will be broadcast on CTV during 150th anniversary celebrations next year. The project wants to collect your hopes, fears, and your feelings on Canada. Check out filming tips here.

(Via CNW) Elephants never forget, right? And Éléphant : mémoire du cinéma québécois is bringing back memories with a restored version of Gilles Carle’s La Tête de Normande St-Onge (in English, it’s called simply Normande). This 1975 story of a woman seeking escape from daily life in a world of fantasy stars Carole Laure, who went on to appear in all Carle’s films, and who will be at the screening along with co-star Raymond Cloutier. It takes place at Montreal’s Cinémathèque québécoise, July 9th at 7:00 PM.
