Cameron, Committees, Closet Monster/Coppola, and Cable Cams

(Via 24-7 Press Release) Toronto-born writer/director Leah Cameron is back for Season 2 of the docu-web series Where Cool Came From. Is there such a thing as timeless cool? Host Dave LeBlanc searches North America for the answer, and for its origins. “True cool can’t be marketed or sold,” says Leah Cameron, who previously directed the award-winning short drama, Subway Harmonies and wrote the hit film festival shorts Ninulla and The Lion Shadows.

Saskatchewan film industry people are needed to join committees at SMPIA (Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association). The deadline to apply has been extended to December 31st — you can find more details here.

St. John’s filmmaker Stephen Dunn accepted the jury prize for Closet Monster from Francis Ford Coppola at the Marrakech International Film Festival over the weekend, CBC news reports. Dunn is moving right along to his next film, about a family that gets separated during a resettlement in Newfoundland, and is looking for a girl aged 10 to 12 to play one of the roles. Non-actresses are encouraged to apply.

Coming up soon: How do some filmmakers get those impossible looking shots? We find out as Darren Wiesner talks to Matt Maddaloni of Sea To Sky Cable Cam.
