More Movies for New Year Weekend

The Hateful Eight – Taking place sometime after the Civil War, two enemies known as John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) are heading to the town of Red Rock, only to come across bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson) and Southern renegade Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins). As a blizzard strikes, the four must find shelter elsewhere. As they set foot onto a stagecoach, they meet co-owner Bob (Demian Bichir), one of Red Rock’s well known criminals, Oswaldo “The Hangman” Mobray (Tim Roth), Joe Gage (Michael Madsen) who is a cow-puncher, and Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern), a confederate general. Sounds like a pretty intense movie with all kinds of crazy things going on. Tarantino always comes up with something interesting.

Concussion – Originally known as Game Brain, Concussion follows the story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, who discovers a football-related brain issue, within an actual player. Omalu goes on a quest to let the world know about this strange trauma. A very serious sounding film, and it looks like Will Smith is playing a very impressive role with lots of emotion in this. Worth checking out.

The Big Short – Based on a story written by Michael Lewis, four outsiders discover the global collapse of the economy. They make a bold investment which brings them into  modern banking’s dark underworld. A bold drama and by the looks of it, sounds more exciting than most of these films. Interesting for anybody who likes dramas in particular or movies with well written stories.
